Behold the gladiolus, it has pointed foliage-iolus. It starts with a nub of a bulb, that sucks up water as fodder. It sprouts and routes, to the surface with purpose. Its spikes turn green to commemorate spring, and then one day the buds come to play. The height of its tower, an immaculate flower. Then it burns summer brown, and wilts to the ground. Feeding its nubs, to make bigger bulbs. So next year, it can reappear. Bigger more glad glorious, to frilly flaunt before-us. And that's the life of gladiolus, a flower that's somewhat odd-iolus. But if you plant two, just what will you do? Oh to decide what will they be-uh...gladioluses? Maybe gladiolie?
