This is the third quart of blueberries so far off our two bushes. I will probably get another two quarts if the birds don't overeat to wobbling instead of warbling status. So, overall it's a bad year. Too much rain, too little sun. Singing the Beatles classic "Here Comes The Sun" daily hasn't seemed to help. But, I apparently have conjured up some major wind storms. Anywho...they usually each make somewhere between 3/4 and 1 gallon of berries.

Never could grow them in this blistering sand. They beg for constant water in the summer heat and they are shallow rooted. So in my sand sinkhole, I irrigate and poof-waters gone to whatever country is directly underneath my house on the other side of the earth. Well, I hit on an idea. Since my sand bone dries out in the summer, I put them on each side of the condensate line coming off my central air conditioning unit. Therefore, they get a constant drip irrigation water feed all summer long. To clean the line, I use vinegar and a little dishwashing soap. Bleach that most people use in their air conditioning lines is death to plants. But vinegar does the same job for me. Since blueberries are acid lovers they seem to love the occasional vinegar baths. Occasionally outside my window I hear them begging for more acid. Must be old hippie blueberries??? They have been thriving for years starting from baby three inch sprouts to now six foot tall plants. Weird but true. HAPPY GARDENING!
